Transport is always a big debate, and we heard from the consultation that the easiest way of helping this is to make walking and cycling a priority and restrict the ease of car movements. At the same time, we will provide more parking than at present for the new residents and public, in a safe and secure environment with minimal visual impact.
By creating pleasant, easy and short walking environments we can start to address these issue by encouraging people to leave the car at home and use a natural way of getting around – Priority One.
The river bank and Phoenix Causeway can be opened up to walkers and cyclists, creating better connections from Lewes out into the town and countryside.
