Update on Proposals for Malling Fields and Pells Recreation Ground
March 27, 2018
Pells Recreation Ground and Malling Fields are being upgraded as part of the North Street Quarter scheme.
The landscape architects Macgregor Smith have been consulting residents about how they would like the spaces to be developed and have held three rounds of consultation events, the first of which was in November 2016. The feedback from these consultations has been a key element in shaping how the two recreational spaces will look.
A working group comprising representatives from the Pells and St John’s Neighbourhood Association, Lewes Town Council and the Lewes Sounding Board is working with the architects to ensure that local residents’ views continue to be heard.
At the last meeting the working group discussed the preferred option for the design of flood defence in the Pells area. Below is a link to the study exploring the different designs. The preferred option is shown at the top, followed by a further five options that were explored as part of the decision-making process.
Below are the proposals that were presented at the third consultation event in July 2017.
